By Joy at the Southern Schoolhouse

Our nation’s capital is a wonderful place to take a field trip. This was my son’s first overnight trip with our school and my husband and I both had the privilege of chaperoning. We had an amazing time. Such a good experience for my fifth grader and his classmates. His favorite part was the Museum of Natural History and Arlington National Cemetery. My favorite parts were the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington. Our tour company did a great job and helped to create many memories for this group of students.
- Museum of Natural History
- Museum of American History
- Museum of African American History and Culture
- Washington Monument
- Lincoln Memorial
- Vietnam War Memorial
- Picture at the White House
- Capital Building (highly recommend the tour)
- Arlington National Cemetery (changing of the guards and wreath)
As our tour guide at the capital said, “traveling is one of the best ways to be educated.” Happy future travels!
