My youngest daughter Aubry, is my kind hearted, funny kid, but when it comes to keeping her things tidy, that is not a strength. She likes to collect artificial plants, rocks and so many other small knick knack items. We do bedroom clean outs usually every year before Christmas. The room is small, and each year, it tends to need a little organizational TLC.
This year, I decided to start with the closet and try to organize it in a way that would stay tidy all year. It needed to be organized in a way that was easy for Aubry to get to and find her things. One day, when talking with Joy, she told me about an organizer that she installed in the closets at her house. When it comes to drills, screws and directions this is not a strength of mine. After browsing through Amazon, I found a heavy duty garment rack with adjustable shelving (easy to put together and slide in the closet). My husband removed all the old shelves and closet hanger pole that was originally installed in the closet. The shelves took up a lot of space and the space to hang clothes was very small. Before I purchased this portable rack, I did measure to make sure it would fit in the closet.

We spent some time cleaning out unwanted items and deciding what to donate and what to consign. She still had a lot of games and items she had not touched in years. Since these were using needed space, they had to go. When the rack arrived, I had to decide what would be the best way to assemble it to optimize her storage space. Once I decided, I realized it was easy to put together and neither a drill nor screws were needed. I was so excited because it did fit into the closet perfectly and spared some room for a shoe rack (also easy to put together). I ended up buying three more for our closet. I also included a shoe organizer holder which I did not use for shoes. Each space in the holder held socks and other items that were kept in her previous bedside table (got rid of when she got a vanity).
At the time, I did not think about taking a before picture but it was very unorganized. This is the after picture (not the best) which includes the shoe rack and hanging organizer that I used. There is still some room for new items but overall she was happy with the outcome. It has been two months and it is still mostly in the stay shape so I have hope that it will stay that way. I hope this closet organization is helpful to someone with the same closet issue. Please share some of your closet tips because my next project is my son’s closet. That will definitely be an entirely different article.

Final Product…
*Garment Rack with Adjustable Shelving
They also have bigger and smaller sizes depending on the size of your closet.
This also comes in different sizes and shapes but this worked for her space.
*Hanging Shoe Organizer 8 Shelves
This is not the exact one that I used. The one I chose was out of stock. I do like this one as well.
