It’s that time of year again! We love giving our students a chance to have fun and make something they can take home as a little snapshot of this age and grade. But let’s be honest—we’re teachers, so it has to be simple and budget-friendly. Here are a few ideas that have been a hit in years past!
Snowman Ornament-
Materials Needed:
- Clear ball ornaments
- White crinkled cut paper shred filler
- Googly eyes
- Sharpies – black and orange
- Pipe Cleaner (I used blue)
- Pom-poms
- Hot glue gun


Round Wooden Ornament with Student Picture: Materials Needed:
- Wood Slices for Crafts
- Modge Podge
- Pictures of students
- Ribbon or Twine
- *Version 1 – Add brown pipe cleaner bent into reindeer antlers and red pom-pom for nose.
- *Version 2 – Record students sharing a Christmas greeting and add a QR code so families can hear the message.
Reindeer Ornament
Material Needed:
- Puzzle pieces (fun way to recycle an old puzzle)
- Brown paint and paint brushes
- Googly eyes
- Red pom pom
- Hot Glue Gun
- Pipe cleaner or Ribbon
- *This could also be turned into a Christmas pin/brooch using brooch pins for crafts.
