It’s that time of year again! We love giving our students a chance to have fun and make something they can take home as a little snapshot of this age and grade. But let’s be honest—we’re teachers, so it has to be simple and budget-friendly. Here are a few ideas that have been a hit in years past!

Snowman Ornament-

Materials Needed:

  • Clear ball ornaments
  • White crinkled cut paper shred filler
  • Googly eyes 
  • Sharpies – black and orange
  • Pipe Cleaner (I used blue)
  • Pom-poms
  • Hot glue gun

Round Wooden Ornament with Student Picture: Materials Needed:

  • Wood Slices for Crafts
  • Modge Podge
  • Pictures of students
  • Ribbon or Twine
  • *Version 1 – Add brown pipe cleaner bent into reindeer antlers and red pom-pom for nose.
  • *Version 2 – Record students sharing a Christmas greeting and add a QR code so families can hear the message.

Reindeer Ornament
Material Needed:

  • Puzzle pieces (fun way to recycle an old puzzle)
  • Brown paint and paint brushes
  • Googly eyes
  • Red pom pom
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Pipe cleaner or Ribbon
  • *This could also be turned into a Christmas pin/brooch using brooch pins for crafts.
